Solidus (Gold, 19 mm, 4.49 g, 6 h), Constantinople, 2nd officina (B), 715. d N ThEOdO-SIЧS MЧL A' Crowned facing bust of Theodosius II, wearing loros, holding a globe surmounted by patriarchal cross with an X at the intersection in his right hand and an anexikakia in his left. Rev. VICTORIA AЧSЧ B/ CONOB Cross potent on base and three steps. DOC 1 (but officins B not listed). Füeg 1.A.2 (this coin). MIB 1. SB 1487. This coin shares the same obverse die with the extremely rare Hexagram that appeared in Nomos 18, 5 May 2019, as lot 369. Of great rarity. Well-struck, sharp and toned. Extremely fine.
