Galerius, as Caesar, 293-305. Aureus (Gold, 20 mm, 5.30 g, 11 h), Antioch, 293-295. MAXIMIANVS NOB CAES Laureate, head of Galerius to right. Rev. IOVI CONS CAES/ SMAZ Jupiter standing to left, nude but for drapery over his shoulders, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and scepter in his left. Calicó 4911. Cohen 117. Depeyrot 8/4. RIC - (cf. 4b, but with an eagle on the reverse). Very rare. Struck in high relief on a broad flan; nicely toned. Minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
