LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.80 g, 3 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing long pendant earring and a grain wreath. Rev. META Ear of barley with leaf to right; on the leaf, Nike standing left, holding large wreath with both hands. HN III 1591. Johnston C9.3. SNG ANS 496 var. A sharp, clear and attractive example. Some flatness and traces of die wear on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
