Probus, 276-282. Aureus (Gold, 22.5 mm, 6.67 g, 12 h), Serdica, 280. IMP C M AVR PROBVS P F AVG Laureate, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Probus to left, with gorgoneion on his cuirass, holding spear with his right hand over his right shoulder and with a shield decorated with a gorgoneion over his left shoulder. Rev. VICTORIAE / AVG Victory driving quadriga to left holding wreath with her outstretched right hand and palm fond with her left. Calicó 4230 var (shield). Cohen 785. RIC 833G var (shield). Very rare. Attractively toned and well struck. Very minor marks and bangs, otherwise, about extremely fine.
