Septimius Severus, with Caracalla, 193-211. Aureus (Gold, 20 mm, 7.41 g, 10 h), Rome, 204 (?). IMPP INVICTI PII AVGG Jugate heads to right of Septimius Severus, laureate, draped and cuirassed, and Caracalla, laureate and draped. Rev. VICTORIA PARTHICA MAXIMA Victory rushing to left, holding wreath in her right hand and palm branch in her left. BMC 266. Calicó 2597b (same obverse die). Cohen 8. Hill 677. RIC 311. Extremely rare. Clear and attractive. Very fine.

Hill suggests that this coin was issued to mark the dedication of the Arch of Septimius Severus, which he built in 203 to commemorate his victories over the Parthians.
