PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Darios I to Xerxes I, Circa 505-480 BC. Daric (Gold, 16x12.5 mm, 8.29 g), Lydo-Milesian standard, Sardes. The Persian Great King in kneeling-running stance to right, shooting arrow from bow held in his left hand; quiver over his left shoulder. Rev. Oblong incuse. ACGC 81. Carradice Type II (pl. XI, 11). Very rare. A beautifully centered and complete example. Minor marks, traces of die rust and a light scratch on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
