GALATIA. Pessinos. Circa 1st Century BC/1st Century AD. AE (Bronze, 14 mm, 1.65 g, 7 h), possibly struck when Pessinos was the capital city of the Tolistobogii, one of the Gaulish tribes settled in Galatia. ΘΕΑ ΙΛ ΕΑ Turreted head of the Tyche-Kybele (Ilea) of Pessinos to right. Rev. ΠΕCCΙ-ΝΟΥ Draped bust of Mên to right, wearing a Phrygian cap; before, at the bust, lituus. SNG Copenhagen 122. SNG Paris 2572. Rare. Well-struck and with an attractive, brown patina. Extremely fine.
