CILICIA. Soloi. Circa 440-410 BC. Stater (Silver, 26.5 mm, 10.90 g, 4 h), c. 430-420. Amazon, wearing a pointed bonnet, with drapery around her waist and at least one breast bare, kneeling to left, holding her bow with both hands; at her waist, gorytos; in field to left and between her legs, ivy leaf; behind her back to right, Corinthian helmet. Rev. ΣΟΛΕΩΝ Large and plump bunch of grapes; to right, laurel branch; all within border of dots in an incuse square. Casabonne types 1-2 var. SNG Levante 37. SNG France 124 var. Clear and very sharply struck. Overstruck on an oblong flan, and with some striking flatness, otherwise, extremely fine.

Overstruck on a stater of Side (as Atlan 16, O15(?)/A14) with traces of the lower part of the reverse of the host coin with the neck of Athena still visible on the lower part of the present reverse. If we accept the lower chronology of 440-430 for the Side undertype, we can date this coin and this series to the 430s and possibly around the middle of the decade.
