KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.09 g, 12 h), Byzantion, c. 260-230. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated to left on throne, resting her left elbow on her shield and holding Nike crowning the king’s name with her outstretched hands; behind, transverse spear with spearhead; in inner left field, monogram of MT. Marinescu issue 55, 133 (same dies). Marinescu & Lorber 377 (same dies). Mektepini -. Müller -. Very fine.

Marinescu & Lorber note that the monogram on the reverse was originally just the letters MI. However, two lateral die breaks appeared at the top of the I giving it the appearance of the letter T. When the replacement die was engraved, the engraver mistook the damaged letters for the monogram of MT as it appears here.
