CRETE. Polyrhenion. Circa 320-270 BC. Stater (Silver, 26 mm, 9.76 g, 6 h), struck under the magistrate, Charisthenes. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΠΟΛΥΡΗ-ΝΙΟΝ / ΧΑΡΙΣΘΕN Bull’s head facing, with fillets hanging from its horns. Le Rider -. Stefanakis, Πολυρρήνια, 32 (this coin). Svoronos p. 276, 2 and pl. XXVI, 22. An attractive piece, clear and well-struck on a very broad flan. Some striking flatness, and a scratch on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
