CRETE. Kydonia. Circa 320-270 BC. Stater (Silver, 25.5 mm, 11.27 g, 11 h). Head of a nymph to right, her hair rolled and tied with a vine wreath, wearing an elaborate pendant earring. Rev. ΚΥΔΩΝ The archer Kydon standing to left, stringing his bow. Dewing 1995. Le Rider pl. IX, 18 (same dies). Pozzi 1972 (same dies). Svoronos 3, pl. IX, 3 (same obverse die). Very rare. With a fine obverse portrait based on the heads found on the staters of Lokris. Areas of striking flatness, various die breaks, otherwise, good very fine.
