ATTICA. Athens. Circa 449-404 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25.5 mm, 17.23 g, 5 h), mid 430s. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with three olive leaves and palmette, round earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing to right, head facing; behind, olive spray and crescent moon; all within incuse square. Svoronos pl. 13, 18. Bright and lustrous, struck in high relief on a very curiously-shaped flan. With an exceptionally sharp and complete owl surely struck from a brand-new die. Good extremely fine.
