KYPIЄ BOHΘEI / IC XC Christ Pantokrator seated facing on throne, raising his right hand in benediction and holding Gospels in left. Rev. ΑΝΔΡΟΝΙΚΟ ΜΧΗΛ ΔECΠΟ Andronicus and Michael standing facing, each raising hand to chest and holding labarum between them. DOC 509-12. PCPC 134. SB 2402. Rare variety with the emperors' names as opposed to the more common anonymous type. Nearly very fine.

This basilika of Andronicus II and Michael IX come in two varieties, those with the names of the emperors and others with the legend AYTOKPATOP PΩMAION. The former is by far the less common: the DOC has just four examples of the former, yet has twenty-seven of the latter.
