Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX, 1282-1328. Hyperpyron (Gold, 25 mm, 3.97 g, 6 h), Constantinople, 1294-1303. Bust of the Virgin, orans, within the city walls furnished with four groups of towers; Π-K(?) sigla across the lower field. Rev. A/N/Δ/N/IK/OS - M/(fragmentary inscription) IX - XC Christ standing facing, crowning Andronicus II, on left, and Michael IX, on right, both kneeling. DOC -. LPC p. 62, 1. PCPC 127 sigla 34. SB 2396. Flan cracks, graffito on reverse edge, otherwise, very fine.
