Histamenon nomisma (Gold, 21 mm, 4.19 g, 6 h), Constantinople, 965-967. +IhS XIS REX REGNANTIhM Draped bust of Christ Pantocrator, bearded and with a cross nimbus, raising his right hand in benediction and holding Book of Gospels with his left. Rev. +θEOTOC’b’Hθ’hICHF dESP On the left, half-length figure of the Virgin facing, between Μ Θ; on the right, half-length figure of Nicephorus II; holding between them patriarchal cross with pellet on the shaft. DOC 4. Füeg 3.B.1. SB 1778. Lightly toned. A few marks, otherwise, very fine.
