Pillet, plain edge and with a center hole. 5 / ΛΕΠΤΑ Owl standing facing on a Panathenaic amphora lying on its side; to right, olive branch; below, CH. PILLET; ΕSSAI, in tiny letters, in the upper right field. Rev. BAΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ / ΤΗΣ /ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ / 1912 in four lines; to right, the crown of the Kingdom of Greece. Divo -. CIMMERIAN BOSPOROS. Theodoseia. Circa 360-340 BC. Half chalkous (Bronze, 10 mm, 0.85 g, 12 h). Bull's head to right. Rev. Θ-Ε-Ο-Δ-Ε-Ω around six-rayed star. HGC 7, 182. SNG Stancomb 616. Most likely the best available example of this elusive type, and undoubtedly the best available in the last two decades. Good very fine.
