Diva Mariniana, the wife of Valerian, who died before he came to the throne in 253. Antoninianus (Silver, 24 mm, 3.93 g, 12 h), struck under Valerian I, Viminacium, 253-254. DIVAE MARINIANAE Veiled and draped bust of Mariniana to right, set on crescent. Rev. CONSECRATIO Apotheosis of Mariniana: Mariniana, draped, raising right hand and holding scepter, flying upwards on peacock to right. Cohen 16. MIR 36, 220b. RIC 6. A nice, clear example of this often poorly struck issue. Very fine.
