BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Menander I, Circa 165/55-130 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27.5 mm, 9.79 g, 12 h). ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ / ΜΕΝΑΝΔΡΟΥ Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Menander to right, wearing crested helmet covered with pelt of scales and adorned with head of wing. Rev. Maharajasa tratarasa / Menamdrasa (in Karosthi) Athena Alkidemos advancing to left, brandishing thunderbolt with her left hand and with a shield over her right arm; in field to lower left, Σ; in field tο lower right, monogram. Bopearachchi 15B. HGC 12, 182. SNG ANS 850. Finely detailed portrait. Small edge chip at 6h, otherwise, good very fine.
