KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Quarter Stater (Gold, 10.5 mm, 2.13 g, 9 h), Pella, c. 340/36-328. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Bow above club to left; below, trident to left. Le Rider 84 (D54/R40). SNG ANS -. Extremely rare with the trident to left, known only from a single example. Edge bangs and with its reverse struck slightly off center, oddly enough, in the same way as the other piece recorded by Le Rider, otherwise, good very fine.

From the Trausnitz Collection, acquired prior to 2007.
