SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy, 466-405 BC. Hemilitron (Bronze, 15.5 mm, 3.34 g, 7 h), circa 425-420. [ΣYPA] Head of young Dionysos to left, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. Octopus with entangled front tentacles. cf. Boehringer series XVIII. CNS 11/2. SNG ANS 393. Very rare. Glossy dark green patina. Very fine.
