MACEDON. Cassandraea. Gordian III, 238-234. Diassarion (Bronze, 24 mm, 11.65 g, 7 h). AYT C M ANTΩΝΙΟC GORDIANOS Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian to left. Rev. COLΩNEAC C-ASSNDRIA (sic) Statue of Poseidon standing facing, head turned to right, holding dolphin in his right hand and trident in his left, atop rostral(?) column. BMC -. SNG Copenhagen -. Varbanov -. Seemingly unpublished. Green and brown patina. Extremely rare and unusual. Flat area on the obverse, otherwise, nearly very fine.

An unusual coin having a Greek inscription on the obverse and a Latin inscription on the reverse when they both should be Latin. Also note the misspelling of the city name on the reverse (CASSNDRIA instead of CASSANDRIA).
