PHOENICIA. Sidon. Time of Baalshallim I-Ba’ana, circa 425-402 BC. Half Shekel (Silver, 19 mm, 7.12 g, 12 h). Phoenician galley left before the city walls of Sidon, with four towers; in exergue, two lions leaping away from each other. Rev. King of Persia standing right, holding a dagger in his right hand with which he is about to slay a lion, whose mane he grasps with his left hand; all within incuse square. Betlyon 9. BMC 9-10. E&E-S Group III, 2. HGC 10, -. Lightly toned with fine orientalizing designs and a bold strike. Obverse off center, otherwise, good very fine.
