SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Tryphon, circa 142-138 BC. (Bronze, 17 mm, 4.57 g, 1 h), Uncertain mint 100, probably in Northern Syria. Diademed head of Tryphon to right. Rev. [Β]ΑΣΙΛΕΩ[Σ] ΤΡΥΦΩΝΟΣ ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΟΡΟΣ Ornate Macedonian helmet to left, with spike on top and a wild goat’s horn over the visor; to inner left, ΑΣ. HGC 9, 1061. SC 2040a. Attractive brown patina with earthen highlights in the recesses, well centered and of interesting style. Good very fine.
