ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ E(= Essai) 1877 Mature head of George I to left; below truncation, in tiny letters, BAPPE. Rev. Laurel wreath tied below, containing ΔΙΩΒΟΛΟΝ / 10 / ΛΕΠΤΑ in three lines; below denomination, ESSAI flanked by two anchors (privy mark of the Engraver General, A. D. Barre, 1855-1878). Divo P89. EUBOIA, Euboian League. Circa 304-290 BC. Drachm (Silver, 20 mm, 3.60 g, 10 h). Head of the nymph Euboia to left, wearing pendant earring and with her hair rolled. Rev. ΕΥ Protome of bull facing three-quarters to right, draped with fillet; to right, facing head of a satyr. BCD 24 (this obverse die). SNG Copenhagen 483. Wallace 126 (LIII/64). Attractively toned. Some uncleaned deposits, otherwise, very fine.
