KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.20 g, 11 h), Damascus, c. 330-320. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated to left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter in his left; to left, monogram of ΑΡ Χ; below throne, ΔΑ. Price 3197. Nicely toned. Some marks and scratches, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of W. Belser, Zürich, prior to 1965, and that of his son, acquired in the early 1970s.
