KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16.5 mm, 4.16 g, 1 h), struck under Antigonos I Monopthalmos, Magnesia on the Maeander, c. 318-301. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟ[Υ] Zeus seated to left on throne, holding eagle on his outstretched right hand and long scepter with his left; to left, race torch; below throne, monogram. Price 1955. Light toning. A few light scratches. Extremely fine.
