LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 7.90 g, 11 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing wreath of barley ears and triple-pendant earring; below chin, ΔΑΙ. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Ear of barley, with leaf to right; above leaf, plough to right; below leaf, ΜΑΧ. HN III 1581. Johnston Class C, 1.34 (same dies). SNG ANS 481 (same dies). Attractive, clear and lightly toned. Some striking flatness, otherwise, extremely fine.
