KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 16.41 g, 12 h), struck posthumously, Temnos, c. 188-170. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated to left on high-backed throne, holding eagle in his outstretched right hand and long scepter in his left; to left, under Zeus' arm, monograms of HAP and PE; below, oenochoe to right beneath vine wreath. Price 1676. Struck on a broad flan. Very fine.
