KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 38 mm, 16.69 g, 12 h), struck posthumously, Myrina, c. 188-170. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟ[Υ] Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; to left, below eagle, monogram of MYPI above amphora. Price 1659. Wll centered and struck on a very broad flan. Porosity along reverse edge, otherwise, very fine.
