MACEDON. Thessalonica. Maximinus I, 235-238. Diassarion (Bronze, 25.5 mm, 10.23 g, 7 h). AYT K Γ ΙΟΥΛ ΟΥΗΡ ΜΑΞΙΜΙΝΟC Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximinus to right. Rev. ΘECCAΛΟΝΙΚEΩΝ Kabeiros standing facing slightly right, his head turned to left, holding rhyton in his right hand, hammer over shoulder in left; forge at his feet to left and elephant tusk on anvil to right. Cf. SNG ANS 876 (obv. legend). Cf. Varbanov 4495 (same). Dark green patina; ATTRACTIVE PORTRAIT. Deposits and adjustment marks on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
