KINGS OF SOPHENE. Mithradates I, 2nd half of 2nd century BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 16.5 mm, 4.67 g, 12 h), countermarked by Mithradates II (c. 89-85 BC), Arkathiokerta(?). Diademed head of Mithradates I to left, wearing bashlyk; in the field to left, countermark of the Aramaic letter p (Kovacs 28). Rev. [ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ MI]ΘPAΔAT[OY] Zeus standing left, holding eagle in right hand, scepter in left. ACV -. CAA -. Kovacs 24. Unpublished prior to 2016. Well-centered and with a dark green patina. Good very fine.
