KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 18 mm, 8.66 g, 5 h), Amphipolis, circa 330-320. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet adorned with serpent. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Nike standing left, holding wreath in her right hand and stylis in her left; to left, trident head downwards. Price 172. Sharp, lustrous and most attractive. A few minor marks and with some scratches on the reverse, otherwise, virtually as struck.

From a collection in Germany, acquired during the 1990s.
