KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 34 mm, 16.26 g, 12 h), Temnos; struck under the magistrates Echenikos and Geitas, circa 188-170. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on throne with a back, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; to left, above Zeus’s knee, EXENI/KOΣ; to left, vine-tendril with grapes around an oenochoe; below throne, ΓΕΙ/ΤΑΣ. Price 1690. Nicely centered and well-struck. Some minor marks, otherwise, good very fine.
