THRACE. Philippopolis. Commodus, 177-192. Assarion (Bronze, 19 mm, 3.95 g, 7 h). AYT K M AY-P KOMOΔOC (sic) Laureate and draped bust of Commodus to right. Rev. ΦΙ-ΛΙΠΠΟΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ Dionysos (or Maenad?) seated on panther advancing to right, holding transverse thyrsos in his right hand and patera (?) in his left. Moushmov -. RPC IV Online temp. 10922. Varbanov 1022 (same dies as illustrated). An attractive, well-centered coin. Good very fine.
