THRACE. Anchialus. Gordian III, 238-244. Pentassarion (Bronze, 28 mm, 15.02 g, 7 h), struck under the magistrate Ulpian. AYT K M AN-T ΓOPΔIANOC (AVΓ) Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III to right. Rev. OYΛΠΙΑ(NΩ)-Ν ΑΓΧΙΑΛΕ-(ΩN) Purse and prize urn containing two palm branches set on agomistic table below which an amphora; in upper left field, E (denomination). AMNG II 639; Varbanov 662 (same obverse die as illustrated). Earthen green patina. A few deposits and centring mark on table edge, otherwise, good fine.
