MOESIA INFERIOR. Tomis. Philip II, as Caesar, 244-247. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 27.5 mm, 14.53 g, 6 h). M IOYΛ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟC KAICAP Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Philip II to right. Rev. MH TPO-Π ΠΟ/ΝΤΟY TOME/ΩC Griffin seated to left, placing his raised right forepaw on a wheel; in right field, Δ. AMNG I 3620. Varbanov 5781 (same dies as illustrated). A handsome coin with a dark green patina. Light die shift on obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
