SCYTHIA. Tyra. Caracalla, 198-217. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 25 mm, 8.68 g, 8 h). AYT K M AYP CEY-HPOC ANTΩN-I[N] Laureate head of Caracalla to right. Rev. TY-PANΩN Dionysos standing facing, head to left, holding kantharos with his extended right hand and long filleted thyrsos in his left; at his feet to left, panther to left, his head turned backwards to face the God of wine. BMC -. SNG Copenhagen - (but cf. 119). Zograph -. A very rare coin from a rarely encountered mint. Unpublished in the standard references. Dark green patina with a few light earthen deposits, well-centered. Very fine.
