KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.08 g, 10 h), struck posthumously under Antigonos II Gonatas, Pella, circa 280-275. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔΡOΥ Zeus seated to left on high-backed throne, holding eagle on his outstreched right hand and long scepter in his left; to left, bunch of grapes, over ΠΑ monogram. Mathisen, Administrative, Group IV. Price 575. Toned and well-centered. Good very fine.
