PHRYGIA. Apameia. Hadrian, 117-138. Assarion (Bronze, 20.5 mm, 6.12 g, 6 h). [AΔPIANOC] KAI CEB Laureate and cuirassed bust of Hadrian to right, wearing aegis. Rev. AΠAMEΩN MAPCYAC [KIBΩTOI] Marsyas reclining left in a rocky cave above which are five chests (KIBΩTOI), holding cornucopia in his left hand and double flute in his right. RPC III 2586. SNG von Aulock 3492. Attractive patina, pleasant surfaces and with a spectacular reverse. Struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
