KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 16.92 g, 1 h), Mesembria, c. 250-175. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion´s skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus, wearing himation, seated to left on throne, holding scepter in his left hand and eagle on his outstretched right; to left, helmet above monogram of ΠΑ. Price 992. Toned, nicely centered and of a flamboyant Hellenistic style. Extremely fine.
