Octavian, Spring-early summer 36 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.96 g, 5 h), mint moving with Octavian in central or southern Italy. IMP• CAESAR• DIVI•F III• VIR• ITER• R•P•C• Bare head of Octavian to right. Rev. COS• ITER•ET• TER•[DESIG] Temple of Divus Julius; on the architrave, DIVO•IVL; within the central intercolumniation, togate statue of Julius Caesar to left; to left, flaming altar. Crawford 540/2. CRI 315. RSC 90 (Augustus). Sydenham 1338. Lightly toned. A few small dents, bangs, scrapes and other evidences of antiquity on both sides, otherwise, about very fine.
