PHRYGIA. Dorylaeum. Trajan, 98-117. Assarion (Bronze, 21.5 mm, 5.44 g, 6 h). ΑΥ ΝΕ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟC ΚΑΙCΑΡ ΔΑΚ Laureate head of Trajan to right. Rev. ΔΟΡΥΛ-ΑΕΩΝ Poseidon standing to left, setting his right foot on the helmeted head of the river god Tembris, holding dolphin in his right hand, and trident with his left. RPC III 2637. SNG München 187. Von Aulock Phrygiens 200-1. Very rare and with an unusual reverse; this is just the forth example recorded so far. Stripped patina, otherwise, very fine.
