LYDIA. Thyateira. Commodus, 177-192. Hexassarion (Bronze, 31.5 mm, 18.59 g, 5 h), struck under the strategos Moschianos son of Philip. ΑV ΚΑΙ Μ ΑVΡΗ ΚΟΜΟΔΟ/C Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Commodus to right seen from the behind. Rev. ΕΠΙ ΜΟCΧΙΑΝΟY ΘYΑΤΙΡΗΝΩΝ Tyche standing facing, head to left, wearing kalathos, holding rudder with her extended right hand and cornucopia with her left; to left, column surmounted by a wheel. RPC online 2877. Extremely rare and possibly the second example known; the other in the Cabinet des Médailles in Paris. Minor flan crack and a scrape, otherwise, very fine.
