KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Stater (Gold, 18 mm, 8.64 g, 1 h), Pella, c. 340-328. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Charioteer driving chariot drawn by two rearing horses to right, holding reins in his left hand and goad in his right; below horses, trident to right. Cf. Le Rider 329 (same reverse die, R251). Attractive and clear. Lightly struck on the obverse with almost imperceptible doubling, otherwise, extremely fine.
