ACHAEA. Patrae. Claudius, 41-54. As (Bronze, 28 mm, 9.84 g, 3 h). TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG GERM Bare head of Claudius to left. Rev. COL• A• A• PATR X XII Legionary eagle between two standards. BCD 545. RPC I, 1256 (examples 35-54 with obverse description ending in GERM). Slightly rough and with the original patina stripped, otherwise, about very fine.

The numbers, X and XII, refer to the 10th and 12th legion of Augustus, veterans from which settled in the Colonia Augusta Achaica Patrensis (COL• A• A• PATR).
