MACEDON. Thessalonica. Gallienus, 253-268. Triassarion (?) (Bronze, 23 mm, 10.56 g, 12 h), Aktia issue, struck during the joint reign with Valerian. AVT KAIC ΠO ΛIC ΓNA ΓAΛΛHNOC Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gallienus to right. Rev. ΘEΣΣAΛONIKH MHT KOΛ B NE / AK - TIA Apollo, wearing chiton, advancing to right, playing the kithara. Touratsoglou 39 (V7/R20). Varbanov 4781. Very rare. Very fine.



The inscription on the reverse is a reference to the Actian Games, held in Thessalonica under Gallienus, probably prior to 260.
