PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy I Soter, 306-282 BC. Hemiobol (Bronze, 18 mm, 4.97 g, 12 h), Alexandria, after 306. Diademed head of Alexander right, wearing the horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle with spreadwings, standing to left on thunderbolt; to left, aphlaston above helmet. Lorber B23. SNG Copenhagen 36-7. Svoronos 172. Zervos p. 327, n. 1. Very rare, one of the earliest coins to bear a portrait of Alexander with only a diadem. Some uncleaned deposits, otherwise, very fine.
