PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Artaxerxes III to Darios III, Circa 350-333 BC. (Bronze, 13.5 mm, 2.00 g), Uncertain mint in western Asia Minor (Ionia or Sardes?). BA Persian king, wearing kidaris and kandys, in kneeling-running stance right, holding spear in right hand, bow in left. Rev. Incuse rectangle, containing pattern possibly depicting relief map of the hinterland of Ephesos. BMC 7. Johnston, Earliest, 1-3. Mildenberg, Münzwesen pp. 25-26 and pl. XIII, 112. Very fine.
