ARGOLIS. Argos. Circa 480/70-440/30 BC. Triobol (Silver, 16 mm, 2.78 g, 12 h), c. 480s-470s. Forepart of wolf at bay to left, with both legs parallel to the neck as if he were lying down; above to right, Σ. Rev. Α within shallow incuse square containing two slightly deeper incuses above and a pellet below the cross bar. BCD Peloponnesos 1015 (this obverse die? but with the Σ off the flan on the obverse). Very rare triobol. Slightly porous surfaces, and struck on an uneven flan, otherwise, about very fine.
