ATTICA. Athens. 124-123 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28.5 mm, 16.55 g, 12 h), "New Style" or "stephaniphoros" coinage, struck under the magistrates Mikion, Euryklei and Socrates. Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos. Rev. ΑΘΕ/ ΜΙΚ-ΙΩN/ EYP-YKΛE / CΩ/KPA/THΣ Owl standing facing on amphora; to right, Dioskouroi to left; on amphora, E; below amphora, ΣΩ (= contractor’s initials). HGC 4, 1602. Thompson 485a (this obverse die). Toned. Some marks and scratches, otherwise, very fine.
